Wandering Rocks took another big step forward on her third start, however, and posted a useful performance to get off the mark at Doncaster last month, readily scoring by a length and a half. She was far too green to do herself justice on debut at Southwell and, though showing a lot more, was still in need of the experience at Doncaster on her next outing. The other handicap debutant in the line-up is Wandering Rocks (101p). The winner has since followed up in Listed company at York, though, so perhaps that effort was slightly better than it looked at the time, and he remains relatively unexposed as he steps into handicap company for the first time. That form has worked out nicely and he was well backed to follow up over a mile and a half at Wolverhampton last time, but he failed to progress and had to settle for third, looking a bit awkward off the bridle. Sea The Caspar is owned by Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum who is also represented here by Tathbeet (100). Sea The Caspar is trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, while William Haggas is responsible for Tathbeet who built on his debut promise to land a mile-and-a-quarter novice at Windsor, getting the hang of things late on and impressing with his strength at the finish. He's also been gelded since that outing, which might have a positive impact, and it's likely that he's on a decent mark. Sea The Caspar lost his unbeaten record on his handicap debut at Ascot early last month, finishing third after failing to impress with his head carriage, though he still ran well on the figures despite not being well placed when the sprint for home commenced. He wasn't even sent off favourite as he had to give 7 lb to a well-bred rival who had shaped with a lot of promise when runner-up in a Newbury maiden, but Sea The Caspar maintained his unbeaten record in emphatic fashion, quickening well to score by two and three-quarter lengths. On his next start Sea The Caspar confirmed the positive impression he had created on debut by defying a penalty at Redcar in a stronger novice than you typically get at that track. Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings for the mile-and-three-furlong event are headed by Sea The Casper (106), a well-bred sort who has made a promising start to his career. Sea The Casper, a son of Sea The Stars out of a half-sister to Group 2 winner Summer Romance, showed a bright turn of foot off a steady pace to make a successful debut at Chepstow in May, beating Ajero who subsequently finished runner-up in the Duke of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot and won a competitive handicap at Glorious Goodwood. It's another low-key day of action on Wednesday but the feature race at Kempton, a £15,000 three-year-old handicap at 20:00, is an interesting affair and features some unexposed sorts.
